I have chosen this
kit to be presented during our National day, here, on ARC. Many thanks to all of
the ARC for such a feature and possibillity to present each country. Hope you
enjoy this gallery.
This model goes
straight out-of-the-box. I only supplied a stand from old 1/48 Smer
SM-79 Sparviero kit and a sitting pilot figure from an ICM Mustang 1/48. No
aftermarket decals or sets were used. The model went good together and I had no
problems to complete it quite quickly.
Some comment to the
kit. The sprues for this Spitfire Mk. IX have their origin in Spain - MPM is
simply repacking an Ocidental kit! I did not measure and compare the kit to the
any drawings, it simply looks as the legendary Spitfire. MPM supplies new
decals in this kit, which I used the marking for a "Czech ace" Otto
Smik. Smik has flown this Spitfire during WWII in RAF, 312nd squadron. The
symbols on the cabin doors marks downed enemy planes and V-1 missiles.

Because this model
was built in the flight position, the undercarriage is retracted and the
propeller is "spinning". The undercarriage in retracted position
consists only of the wheels and covers, you do not need to add the legs, you
simply cannot see them. The "spinning" propeller consists of the two
halves of spinner and a piece of clear foil between them. It is simple and looks
very good.
I used oil colors and some grated
and mixed color pastels for weathering. The kit is painted with Humbrol and
Agama enamels, the camouflage is sprayed with the help of Tamiya HG-T
airbrush.
I enjoyed the kit very well,
it was easy to build and looks pretty good.
