This is Academy's
new 1/72 Hornet kit put together and dressed up in the markings of the Canadian
Forces. I chose to build it out-of-the-box with the exception of the pilot which
came from a Fujimi Tomcat.
The kit went
together rather well and I encountered no major difficulties. As I built it
wheels-up, I was expecting the closing of landing gear doors to be a challenge
but alas, they fit perfectly.

Painting was done using
Gunze acrylics. Gunze 337 was used for the topside FS36237 while 308 was
used for the underside FS36375. The decals were laid over a gloss coat and
performed perfectly as can be expected from Cartograf decals. Academy also
provided stencils for the weapons which really enhanced their realism.
I chose to utilise all the
weapons provided from the kit so I armed it with 2 AIM-9M Sidewinders, 1 AIM-7M
Sparrow, 4 GBU-12 Paveway IIs, the AN/AAS-38 ATFLIR and 3 drop tanks. Weathering
was done using Tamiya enamels.
