Here is the
well-known Italeri F/A-18E Super Hornet.
I was home sick from work for
two days & literally threw this one together just for fun.
The “throw the glue in and
shake the box” approach is pretty evident on this one, but had a lot of fun
doing it-remember, that’s why we build, right?
For markings (I hope the
die-hard Tomcat lovers don’t kill me for this..) I decided to ask myself
“What if VF-111 Sundowners hadn’t disestablished & instead converted to
the SuperBug?”
…Well yes, some of the
aviators would have left the Navy to fly 747’s… but the rest would be
flying VFA-111 18E’s as you see here!

The decals are from one of the
AeroMaster “Anytime Baby” sheets. I modified the kit decals for the squadron
designator on the dorsal hump. I
used the Revellogram cockpit, as the Italeri ‘pit was a little sparse. Notice
also (remember I was sick & on medication at the time) the pilots name under
the canopy…couldn’t resist. That was done with the ol’ inkjet printer
& clear labels-nothing fancy.
